Oh, the waiting. The waiting and then more waiting.

The process takes forever. The worst part, at least for me, is the fact that there is no timeline. I’ve looked at cases that took 2 months and others that took 2 years. Right now, we are waiting on the appeal process to finalize. Up to this point there have been deadlines for bio parents, attorneys, and judges to meet. The case has reached a point where overzealous attorneys can file extension after extension, prolonging a child’s adoption. In the meantime, the child keeps asking when the adoption day will be and having to keep hearing “We don’t know” as an answer. A child who is ready to move on with their life with their new family.

But the truth is we will wait for as long as it takes. We will wait as a family.

I have a feeling good things will be happening soon.
