I am reading through a devotional about gratitude. There is a little journal in it to write down a thousand gifts God has given me. A thousand is a lot, y’all. I only have 86 things written down so far. I know there are many things yet to come that will be added, but this morning I am looking around my office for all the small things I am thankful for: highlighters, mechanical pencils, calendars, tote bags, etc. It reminds me of the movie Anchorman, and I suddenly feel like Brick.
Brick: I love…carpet. I love…desk.
Ron Burgundy: Brick, are you just looking at things in the office and saying that you love them?
Brick: I love…lamp.
Ron Burgundy: Do you really love the lamp, or are you just saying you love it because you saw it?
Brick: I love lamp! I love lamp.
Maybe Brick was smarter than he was given credit for because I do, in fact, love my lamp. That will be my number 87.
