The Call

God tends to call upon people while they are busy doing something else, mostly while doing their job.

*Saul was going from town to town looking for his father’s donkeys when he was called to save God’s people from the Philistines.

*David, the youngest of his brothers, was watching over his father’s sheep when God anointed him as the future king of Israel.

*Moses was minding his own business, leading his father-in-law’s flock around a mountain when God called him to lead His people out of Egypt.

*Gideon was threshing wheat when he was called to save Israel.

*Matthew was working at his tax-collector booth when Jesus told him to follow Him.

*Andrew and Peter were working as fisherman when Jesus told them to drop their nets and follow Him.

NONE of these men were perfect…nor did they do their job perfectly. But God used their gifts of leading, protecting, and gathering. If becoming a foster parent has been on your heart it’s likely because God placed it there. If you don’t feel like you can do it because…you know, life!…, remember Hebrews 13: 20-21.

Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep by the blood of the external covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
